The name changed to Seamonkey. Beautiful place to relax and unwind with a beach and swimming pool. There is also a restaurant serving good food (10-15 usd). At night, there is sometimes a bon fire. I camped with my own tent, but they also have nice-looking rooms. To get there you take a 45-min from the junction (very dusty). Popular with expats who live in Monrovia (especially busy in weekends).Hugo, the owner is very relaxed. Recommended!! This lodge is now called Sea Monkey (the local name for dolphins) and is open. It’s a great stop for over landers that’s off the beaten path. The Swiss owner is friendly and with his experienced Liberian cook, David, they make great Liberian meals, as well as pizza using a real brick pizza oven (lobster pizza!). There are shaded camping spots next to the beach, a cool, shaded fresh water pool for cooling off, showers, and comfortable rooms with strong fans for sleeping at night. Definitely recommend a fishing trip to Lake Piso (10 min drive). Other things: have a local fisherman take you out in a wooden canoe, surf lessons from the kids who run the Liberian cool kids surf team down the beach, hike to an abandoned tanker ship. Ask for the whole made ginger sorbet too.
